Patron Saint

Saint Anne/Anna

St. Anne, often depicted as a seated woman with a book upon her lap and the child Mary leaning against her, eager to learn, holds a special place in the hearts of many, including the community at St. Anna Parish. This image reflects what we know of St. Anne and the reason she is honored to this day. St. Anne had a unique position, entrusted by God with the important task of raising Our Lady in a holy and virtuous way. While teaching Mary to cook, take care of her home, and look after her family and neighbors, St. Anne modeled for the Virgin Mary a life of prayer, love, and humility, preparing her to receive Our Lord into her heart and body, thus becoming the mother of God.

On December 8, Catholics celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a tradition long upheld within the faith. This belief, which became official dogma in 1854 by Pope Pius XI, is particularly cherished at St Ann Mission. On this day, Catholics recognize that the Virgin Mary was conceived in the womb of St. Anne free from original sin, making her a pure vessel to bear the mother of God. For those attending services, many find comfort in participating in the Tubac Church, where they can connect with the community and celebrate Mass, including at St Ann's Catholic Church Tubac Mass Times.
